When were given the choice to pick any feature film song to cover and do our own arrangement of it, I wanted to go for something more traditionally film music: atmospheric and orchestral but that would have been too difficult for the amount of time we were given and due to the rest just wanting to ‘do what's easiest because we had very limited time to do it. In the end, we were still indecisive and a tutor had to step in and help. He encouraged a discussion about simplicity and working with something easier and so our group chose a jazzed-up over the rainbow arrangement.

After working on our cover, the whole idea was scratched as it was decided we would come together as a large ensemble to them. No one wanted to play "over the rainbow" including our group who chose it so we were fine with this. But what i found difficult was learning the lyrics and melody and parts for these songs when 2/3 of them i had never heard before.

When it came to the performance there were many struggles to overcome in the rehearsals for it. I had an issue where part of my score i had interpreted wrong and i fixed it by spending extra time at home learning it correctly so i was ahead of everyone else playing the same parts as me. This meant i was able to take the lead and show the others if they got confused and they did. I felt good helping people and it was beneficial for letting us get through each rehearsal quicker without having to stop and start much because the keys messed up again.
